ここ数日、天気予報では10年に一度の寒波が襲来と呼びかけている。特に今日から寒くなるらしいので今朝はこなつに服を着せて散歩に行ってきた。
For the past few days, the weather forecast has been calling for a once-in-a-decade cold wave. It is said to be especially cold starting today, so this morning I dressed Konatsu and went for a walk.
寒々しい空、雪雲のように見えなくもない。
The sky is cold, and it looks like snow clouds.
犬も歳を取ると寒さに弱くなるらしい。こなつの体毛はアンダーコートがあるからシングルコートの子よりはマシかもしれないけれど、でももう12歳後半だからそれなりに寒さ対策も必要だろう。
It seems that as dogs get older, they become more vulnerable to the cold. Konatsu has an undercoat, so she may be better than single-coated dogs, but she is already in her late twelfth year, so I guess she needs to be prepared for the cold.
もう一つ、歳を感じさせることとして車の乗り降りがある。最近のこなつは若い頃のように軽快にはできなくなってきた。
Another thing that reminds me of her age is getting in and out of the car. Recently, Konatsu is no longer as nimble as she was when she was younger.

This auxiliary board was given to me by a friend who used to have a Bernese that he used to have in the last years of his life.
使い始めて数日は躊躇していたけれど、今ではこうして乗り降りしている。
She was hesitant to use it for the first few days, but now she gets in and out of the car like this.
