今月から私の母は七里ヶ浜ホームに入居している。現在面会は予約制で今日がその当日。
From this month my mother has moved into the Shichirigahama nursing home. Currently, the visit is by appointment and today is the day.
こなつも車に一緒に乗ってきたけどワンコは入れないからここでお留守番。
Konatsu also got in the car, but dogs can’t enter, so Konatsu waits here.
館内に入るとあちこちがクリスマス仕様に飾られている。歳を取ってもクリスマスは楽しいと感じるのだろうか？私にはまだ分からない。
When I entered the hall, everywhere was decorated with a Christmas atmosphere. Do old people still find Christmas fun at that age? I still don’t know it.
面会は衝立越しで15分以内という決まりのようだ。母は思っていた以上に元気そうで、ここでの暮らしに満足していると言っていた。
It is a rule that the visit is within 15 minutes. My mother looked better than I expected, and she said she was happy with her life here.

昔はこういう施設に入るのは嫌だといっていたけれど、今日の感じなら安心できる。
My mother used to say that she didn’t want to enter such a facility, but today’s feeling is reassuring.
次回はこなつの写真も持ってくるよと約束した。
