Konatsu goes to her room with her in her arms. The rule here is that you can have a dog as long as it is small enough to be carried in your arms. So Konatsu is big and heavy, but we have no choice but to go to her room like this.
We went to the third floor like this.
I was asked to help take out the oversize garbage today, and…
Looking down from the balcony, I see a persimmon tree. I picked some persimmons about a week ago, and the ones I left behind are turning color. It’s the harvest season, isn’t it?
This is a persimmon I picked last time. We haven’t eaten all of them yet.
It is a path from the main street of Kitakamakura toward Kajiwara, and although I sometimes pass by it by car, it was the first time for me to walk there, so I saw things that I usually overlook.
The road is narrow in this area, and when it gets a little wider, there is a cherry blossom tree in the middle of the road, which is not a pleasant road to drive on, but when Iseems like a nice and quiet place.
Konatsu seemed to be happy to be in such a quiet place and walked lightly.
Gradually, we started to go uphill…
A side road leading to Kuzuharaoka Shrine comes into view. Further ahead is the road leading to Zeniarai-benzaiten shrine.
In our neighborhood, many good soba restaurants have closed one after another in the past few years, and now I heard that Sea Castle, a German restaurant in Yuigahama, will close this month. When I hear that a restaurant is closing, I suddenly feel like going there to eat…
This afternoon, I suddenly said, “Let’s go eat there!” And, this kind of story is decided so quickly!
I heard that the restaurant is always crowded these days due to the spread of the closure story on SNS, but luckily we were able to get in without any problems today. The restaurant has been featured on TV and in magazines for a long time and has many fans, so it will be crowded every day for the rest of the week.
The interior of the restaurant has the atmosphere of German home cooking.
I ordered the sausage platter course.
My wife ordered the German-style meatballs course.
The lunch menu comes with a main dish, salad, soup, bread, and coffee. It’s been a while since I’ve had it, but it’s still delicious. It is a pity that this restaurant will be closed.
When we paid the bill, the famous owner (a German woman) told us, “If you see me anywhere, please talk to me,” but she is already very old, so I just wish her well.
Usually, the doctor removes the tartar with a hand scaler, but today, when the treatment started, the doctor came to call me and said, “There is too much tartar this time, so I will use an ultrasonic scaler. It can be done without anesthesia.” He explained to me .
This is a picture after the treatment. Konatsu’s teeth are now clean, but you can see that her gums are swollen because of the tartar. I will have to brush her teeth and massage her gums for a while.
The day after our visit to Hakone, we went to BioTOPIA (near the Oimatsuda IC of the Tomei Expressway) recommended by Anne’s owner. This was a great place to take the dog, so I will introduce it to you.
According to a search on the Internet, this BioTOPIA is a “facility for improving pre-symptomatic diseases” by Kanagawa Prefecture in cooperation with this area. If you are interested in pre-symptomatic diseases, please visit Kanagawa Prefecture page.
There is a cafe terrace and marche on the first floor, and the garden there is such a pleasant space. Konatsu and Anne walked around here for a while and then we all had tea together.
No doggies allowed indoors, but we found this amazing thing! ↓
No matter how many refills you want, it’s free. I thought to myself, “If that’s the case, why don’t I order coffee? But we would feel bad if we did, so we ordered coffee and tea.
This is Izusan Shrine. The shrine grounds are spread out over a vast area from the bottom of the mountain to the top, so it would be difficult to walk all the way around. The photo above is the main shrine.
Konatsu visited the shrine with us.
I tried to walk a little higher up, but…
This is the path leading to Hakusan Shrine. The narrow uphill slope on the right is the route.
It seems impossible to climb up this slope with Konatsu. The Hongu shrine is just ahead, but I gave up and decided to return here.
It contains a story that is over 800 years old.
In an effort to bring good luck to our family, we bought good luck charms for my wife and I and for Konatsu.
The main shrine where we were at this time is located at such a high place. Izu Oshima Island can be seen in the distance.
Today was the day of my mother’s annual physical examination, who lives in a nursing home for the elderly, and Konatsu, my wife, and I went to accompany her for the checkup.
Before we left, “Where are we going?” It’s like saying
Konatsu’s is gradually excited…
Here we are! This is the Shichirigahama nursing home where my mother lives.
Since the Omicron variant has spread, visits have been suspended, so we can’t see her unless we have an opportunity like this. Today is the first time I’ve seen her in eight months.
There is St. Theresa’s Hospital on the premises of this home, where the medical checkups are held, and after less than an hour, all the checkups are done, and here is Konatsu’s healing dog work.
Today, my mother was not very responsive during the checkup and hardly answered when we spoke to her, but when Konatsu appeared, she suddenly called out, “Konatsu! “
It was very hot during the day today, so we waited until the heat on the road had cooled down before going out for our evening walk. Konatsu doesn’t like the heat, and she is also old, so we have to be careful about such things.
Today, Konatsu started walking at a brisk pace.
On the way, we stopped by Futa’s house. Konatsu was in a good mood after being petted by Futa’s dad!
When we left Futa’s house and started walking, we met Belle. Konatsu and Belle are good friends.
Today’s walk is over as the rugby match between Japan and Australia will be broadcast on TV later today.
Last week and this week we were hit by a typhoon on two consecutive weekends, and the weather was bad, but today the rain finally stopped. Shizuoka Prefecture seems to have been severely damaged, and I am worried because I know a lot of people there.
On Saturday evening, I went out to walk Konatsu and immediately met HANA, a Shiba dog. Konatsu and HANA are good friends, so we decided to walk together.
Konatsu and HANA are close in age, and when they were younger they used to play with each other when they met, but now they can no longer play like that.
After walking for a while, this time Ange, a Bernese mountain dog, came along.
Konatsu suddenly sat down. When Konatsu does this in front of something, she is saying “Let’s play! or “Give it to me” to the other person. In this case, I guessed it was “Come here”.
A large and strong typhoon No. 14 is approaching. The Shichirigahama beach I saw during my walk this morning was also very rough with high waves, and as expected, there were no surfers in sight.
It seems to be moving through the Japanese archipelago, but I just hope it doesn’t cause any damage.
Well, Konatsu has been spending the last few days without much change, and there is nothing much to talk about, so I’d like to show you the scene of yesterday’s meal.
I was able to buy fresh meat yesterday, so I’m preparing raw meat toppings.
I didn’t notice, but Konatsu was waiting behind me, ostentatiously.
As Konatsu approaches 13 years of age, I feel that her legs and back are gradually weakening, but she still has a good appetite, so I don’t think her health will deteriorate too rapidly.
The temperature was about 20 degrees Celsius, a pleasant coolness for Konatsu. She seemed to be walking more vigorously than when we took walks around our neighborhood.
I couldn’t see the deer because of the fog.
It was as if she was complaining, “The deer are not here! ” lol
It was still foggy by the time we checked out.
We headed down the mountain to Ito city.
This is Le Feuillage, a bakery in Ito-Yawatano. Breakfast here.
The bread here is so good that my wife and I always come here to eat when we come to Amagi.
It would be nice to take a walk with Konatsu here, but it is prohibited to walk here with dogs. The time was just right, so we decided to head to Amagi Kogen from here.
Just before arriving at Tokyu Harvest Club Amagi Kogen, deer were seen as usual.
This room is for pets.
Come on, let’s go for a walk!
Konatsu’s gaze caught a glimpse of a herd of deer.
Meanwhile, the area is getting darker and darker, and…
Fuji in the distance.
It’s time for dinner!
We ate matsutake mushrooms for the first time this fall. So happy to have steamed matsutake mushrooms in an earthenware teapot and matsutake rice! That was the end of the first day.
The past few days have been peaceful, with nothing to talk about. My wife, Konatsu, and I went for an evening walk, and this is a shot of the scenery on the way. It feels like an autumn evening.
Recently Konatsu has been taking shorter and shorter walks, although I think it is still too early her to get old. The picture below was taken when my wife was shopping and Konatsu and I were waiting in front of Suzukiya.
One thing that worries me a little is that Konatsu sometimes doesn’t want to eat her food these days. Konatsu looks forward to eating more than anything else, so when she doesn’t eat, I worry that something is wrong with her. That said, if I put sashimi on top of the leftover food, she will eat it all up…
It was a heat protection item that I put a frozen coolant in it and wrapped it around Konatsu’s neck and walked around with it. It is getting cooler in September, but there will still be hot days, so it will probably be used several times.
I like that it’s mosquito-proof. Konatsu’s black fur tends to attract mosquitoes, and they often cling to her when she goes for walks, and sometimes come straight into the house.
A while back I posted a picture of a scarf with a coolant inside and around Konatsu’s neck, but this is much better.
The last time Konatsu had a shampoo and cut was in June. Three months have passed since then, and her hair has grown uncontrollably, so I decided to cut it myself.
I have scissors for cutting. It’s for both people and dogs, lol.
It is hard to tell in this picture, but the hair on the belly, buttocks, and tail has lengthened.
So I started trimming.
I thought Konatsu would not like it and would get into trouble, but she was surprisingly quiet and did as she was told.
I trimmed this much in just 15 minutes. It’s hard to do everything at once, so today I ended up with about 50% of the image I had in mind. I’ll do the rest in the near future.
The hair on her belly and tail is much shorter now. It’s a good job for a first time lol.
