こなつママが整体院に行ってる間にその近くを歩いてみた。

While my wife was at the physical therapy clinic, I walked around the area with Konatsu.

裏通りとは言え観光客の姿は多いので、こなつは「ここを歩くんですか？」という顔をしている。

Even though it is a back street, there are many tourists, so Konatsu has a look of “Are you going to walk here?

この階段を上がった所に頼朝の墓があるのですが、こなつが階段を登ろうとしなかったのでここは素通り。

There is Yoritomo’s tomb at the top of the stairs, but Konatsu did not want to climb the stairs, so we skipped this place.

今度は北条義時の墓に向かう階段が現れ、こなつはこっちの階段は登って行った。

Now a stairway to the tomb of Hojo Yoshitoki appeared, and Konatsu climbed this stairway.

義時の方は墓が残っておらず、法華堂跡としてこの場所が残っているらしい。

Yoshitoki’s grave did not remain, and this place is said to remain as the site of Hokkedo.

今、鎌倉ではどこを歩いてもこの旗が立てられているが、大河ドラマの影響力は凄いね。

帰り道。向こうからやってきた人力車を引くお兄さんも乗客に頼朝の話をしていました。「あと2週間で頼朝は死んじゃうんですよ。」とネタばらしをしているのが聞こえてきて笑っちゃいました。

The way back, the man pulling the rickshaw who came from the other side was also telling the passengers about Yoritomo. “Yoritomo is going to die in two weeks,” he said. I laughed when I heard him spoiling a story.

そろそろ紫陽花が咲く季節。鎌倉はますます観光客で溢れそう。

It is almost the season for hydrangeas to bloom. Kamakura is going to be overflowing with more and more tourists.

3日前にシャンプーしたばかりのこなつに近づくと今もシャンプーの良い匂いがする。更には歯石を除去したばかりだから口臭も殆ど無い。

When I get closer to Konatsu, who was shampooed three days ago, I can still smell the good smell of shampoo. Furthermore, she has just had her tartar removed, so she has almost no bad breath.

こなつの歯石除去は無麻酔でやってもらっています。年齢的にも全身麻酔するのはリスクが大きいから獣医師の先生もそれを薦めてくれる。こなつは病院嫌いだけど一旦診療台に乗ってしまえば観念してされるがままになるから先生にとっても扱いやすい患者のようです。

Konatsu is having his tartar removal done without anesthesia. The veterinarian recommends it because it is risky for her to have general anesthesia due to her age. Konatsu doesn’t like hospitals, but once she is on the table, she is a very easy patient for the veterinarian to deal with.

きれいでしょ！　歯石が付きすぎると無麻酔での処置ができなくなるから、こなつは3ヶ月に1回のペースで動物病院に行ってます。

Aren’t those teeth beautiful!　Konatsu goes to the veterinary clinic every three months because too much tartar makes it impossible to perform the procedure without anesthesia.

これは抗生剤シロップ。歯石除去後は歯茎が多少傷つくからそこが炎症を起こさないように飲ませるもの。だけどこなつはこれが嫌いで飲まないので今までのが沢山溜まってしまっている。困ったねえ､､､

This is an antibiotic syrup. After tartar removal, the gums are slightly damaged, so this is given to prevent inflammation of the gums. But Konatsu doesn’t like it and won’t take it, so we have a lot of the ones we’ve had so far. What a problem…

こなつの毛が伸び放題になっていたのでシャンプー・カットに行ってきた。

Konatsu’s body hair had grown uncontrollably, so she went for a shampoo and cut.

関東地方も数日前に梅雨入りし、雨と曇りの日が続いています。雨が続くと散歩が大変だから早く梅雨明けして欲しいけど、あと1ヶ月はこんな状態でしょうね。

The Kanto region entered the rainy season a few days ago, and we have been having rainy and cloudy days. I hope the rainy season will end soon because it is hard to take a walk when it keeps raining, but it will probably be like this for another month.

昨日、日帰りで名古屋往復してきた娘が自分の家に帰る支度をしている。

My daughter, who made a day trip to Nagoya and back yesterday, is getting ready to go back to her own house.

何が起きているのかと様子を窺っている。そして娘が帰ろうとすると､､､

「待って、待って～！」と階段を駆け下りていく。

“Wait, wait~!” and ran down the stairs.

そして、玄関の外に出てお見送りです。

Konatsu then walked out the front door to see my daughter off.

こ：「今度はいつ来るの？」
む：「来週かなぁ～」
という会話が交わされているような感じ。

Ko: “When will you come next time?”
D: “Maybe next week~”
It is as if a conversation is being exchanged.

庭に目をやると、薔薇が咲き始めている。

I look into the garden and see that the roses are beginning to bloom.

今日はこんなに良い天気だけれど明日は一日中強い雨が降るらしい。明日のサッカー日本代表vsブラジルが楽しみなんだけど、グラウンドコンディション悪くなりそうだなあ｡｡｡

It’s such a beautiful day today, but it’s supposed to rain hard all day tomorrow. I’m looking forward to watching the Japan vs. Brazil soccer game tomorrow, but the condition of the field is going to be bad…

何が起こったのか判らないが、このブログの記事作成のページが昨日までと変わってしまい、とてもやりにくい。それはさて置き、昨日の夜、娘が家に来た。当然こなつはそれが嬉しいのだが喜びも束の間で、娘は今朝早くから名古屋に行ってしまった。

I don’t know what happened, but the page for creating posts on this blog has changed from yesterday, and it is very difficult to work. But that aside, my daughter came to my house last night. Naturally Konatsu was happy to see her, but her joy was short-lived, as she left for Nagoya early this morning.

だからこなつは「､､､？？？」という状態なのだ(笑)　こなつ姉がどこに行ってしまったのか？というと､､､

So Konatsu is in a state of “…???” (lol) Where did my daughter go? I mean…

娘はフィギュアスケートが大好きで、今日は名古屋までアイスショーを見に行っているのだ。昼過ぎにLINEで送ってきたのが上の写真。我が家へは中継基地として立ち寄っただけというワケだ。

My daughter loves figure skating and today she is going to Nagoya to see an ice show. She sent me the above photo via LINE a little after noon. She just stopped by our house as a relay base.

これは夕方に、夕飯の買い物とこなつの散歩を兼ねて出かけたときの一コマ。ここは湘南モノレール「西鎌倉」の駅前。

This is a shot when we went out for supper shopping and a walk with Konatsu. This is in front of the Shonan Monorail Nishi-Kamakura station.

鎌倉や北鎌倉は有名だけど、西鎌倉はこんな場所。つまり湘南モノレールのやや江ノ島寄りに位置している。

Kamakura and North Kamakura are famous, but Nishikamakura is such a place. In other words, it is located slightly closer to Enoshima on the Shonan Monorail.

その駅前にスーパー「スズキヤ」があり、今日はここで夕飯の食材のお買物です。

There is a supermarket “Suzuki ya” in front of the station, and this is where we will be shopping for ingredients for dinner today.

ママが買い物してる間、ここで待っているんだけど、知らない人から「カワイイー！」って声かけられちゃったね！

I’m waiting here while my wife is shopping, and a stranger said to Konatsu, “Cute!,so cute!”
Good for you!

こなつママが内科の定期検診を受けるので北鎌倉まで一緒に行き、待ってる間にこなつは北鎌倉を散歩した。

My wife had a routine internal medicine checkup, so I went with her to Kitakamakura, and while we waited, Konatsu and I took a walk around Kitakamakura.

駅前の駐車場に車を置いて、踏切を渡って明月院を目指して歩きます。

Leave my car in the parking lot in front of the station and walk across the railroad crossing to Myogetsuin.

この道を歩いたこと無かったのでこの標識も初めて見た。

I had never walked this road before, so I had never seen this sign before.

だんだん道が狭くなり､､､

The road gets narrower and narrower, and…

観光客相手の茶店があちこちに点在している。

Tea stores catering to tourists are scattered here and there.

到着しました。ここは「あじさい寺」とも呼ばれ、ネットで検索すると境内に紫陽花が咲いてる写真が沢山でてくる。

We arrived at the temple. This temple is also called “Ajisai-dera” (hydrangea temple), and if you search the Internet, you will find many pictures of hydrangeas blooming in the precincts of the temple.

ですが今日はまだつぼみが膨らみつつある状態で、花が咲くのはもう少し先みたい。この感じだと梅雨に入った頃に咲くのでしょう。

However, today, the buds are still swelling and it looks like it will be a little while before the flowers bloom. With this feeling, it will probably bloom around the beginning of the rainy season.

入り口に着いたけどワンコを連れての入場は出来ないので、こなつと私はここまでです。

We got to the entrance, but we are not allowed to bring our dogs, so Konatsu and I are done here.

北鎌倉古民家ミュージアムなんてのもありましたが、これも初めて知りました。

There was also the Kitakamakura Old Folk Houses Museum, which I had never heard of before.

そうするうちに円覚寺に到着

In the meantime, we arrived at Engakuji Temple.

ほんの30分余りの散歩で、歩数計を見たら2,500歩でした。

After just over 30 minutes of walking, I looked at my pedometer and saw that I had taken 2,500 steps.

こなつが玄関から外の様子を窺っている。

Konatsu is peering out the front door.

ママが庭に居るのでこなつも庭に行きたいみたいだ。

My wife is in the garden and Konatsu seems to want to go to the garden.

ママは庭のゼニ苔を取っているのです。

My wife is getting rid of liverwort in our yard.

真ん中のがゼニ苔。これを放っておくと大量に増えて、景観が悪くなるしナメクジなどが繁殖しやすくなるので早めに取ってしまわないといけないらしい。

The one in the middle is liverwort. If left unchecked, these will grow in large numbers and need to be removed because they will look bad and will make it easier for slugs and other insects to proliferate.

こっちはスギゴケ。

This one is hair moss.

スギゴケは庭をきれいに見せてくれるから増殖しても問題なし。むしろ歓迎。

Hair moss makes the garden look beautiful, so there is no problem with its proliferation. In fact, they are welcome.

私もたまに草むしりを手伝うのだが、長時間しゃがんでいると足や腰が痛くなるのが辛い。ほどほどにしないとね､､､。とは言え庭がこの状態を保てているのはママのおかげだ。

I sometimes help with the weeding, but it’s hard on my legs and back when I squat for long periods of time. I have to do it in moderation. However, it is thanks to my wife that the garden is kept in this condition.

ここならこなつもノーリードで好きなように歩き回れるから気分が良いのだろう。庭を何周も回っていた。

Konatsu must feel good here because she can roam around as she likes without a leash. She circled the yard many times.

ご近所の方からこなつに軽井沢のお土産を頂いた。略して「軽鹿」というらしい。

A neighbor friend gave me deer jerky as a souvenir from Karuizawa. This is for Konatsu.

鹿肉は高タンパク質・低脂肪で他の肉と比べると凄いらしい。出典元を調べてみたのがコレ↓

Venison is said to be high in protein and low in fat, which is awesome compared to other meats. I looked up the source and here it is.

見た目は普通のジャーキーと何ら変わらないけどね。

It looks no different than regular jerky, though.

「そんな事どうでもいいから早く頂戴！」と、こなつ

“I don’t care about that, just give it to me!”

際限なく食べちゃいそうだから、これでおしまい。

Konatsu seems to eat without limit, so this is the end of it.

もらえなくなった途端、こんな顔(笑)

As soon as Konatsu stopped getting them, she made this face (lol).

今朝の散歩のとき、こなつが黄色い胃液を吐いた。そこまでなら今までにも何度かあったし、これはお腹が空きすぎているせいかな？くらいに思ってあまり気にしなかった。
ところが今朝は足元がふらつき始め、腰を抜かしたようにお尻から崩れ落ちそのまま横に倒れてしまった。今まで見たことのない症状だったから私もビックリ。急いでこなつの掛かり付けの動物病院に電話して、開院時間前に診てもらうことができました。

あれこれ検査してもらったが心音も正常だし、他にもこれといって悪い所はなく、先生の診断としては「おそらく老年性のてんかん発作だろう」とのこと。加齢により脳細胞が減少し脳の一部が傷ついたことで起こる症候性てんかんということらしい。こなつもそういう年齢になったという事でしょうか。ステロイド系の皮下注射をしてもらい、帰ってきました。

This morning’s incident
During our walk this morning, Konatsu vomited yellow gastric juice. I had seen this happen several times before, and I thought it might be because she was too hungry. and didn’t pay much attention to it.
This morning, however, Konatsu began to wobble on her feet, and as if she had lost her footing, she collapsed from the hips and fell to the side. I was surprised because I had never seen such a symptom before. I hurriedly called Konatsu’s veterinary clinic and was able to get her seen before the clinic opened.

The doctor examined Konatsu and found that her heartbeat was normal and that there was nothing else wrong with her. The doctor’s diagnosis was that Konatsu was probably suffering from senile epileptic seizures. The doctor’s diagnosis was that it was probably senile epilepsy, a symptomatic form of epilepsy caused by damage to part of the brain due to the decrease in the number of brain cells caused by aging. So Konatsu has reached such an age. The doctor gave her a subcutaneous steroid injection and we returned home.

戻ってしばらくはこなつも我が身の異常を感じて不安だったのか、こんな表情でしたが

After returning home, Konatsu was anxious for a while, perhaps because she felt something was wrong with herself, and she had this expression on her face

午後にもう一度病院に再チェックに行った時にはこんなに元気になっていました。取り敢えずひと安心ですが、12歳を過ぎてシニア犬になっているこなつだから、今まで以上に健康管理に気をつけなくてはと思えた出来事だった。

When I went to the hospital again in the afternoon to check Konatsu again, she was in such good health. Now I no longer have to worry about things like I did this morning. Since Konatsu is now a senior dog at over 12 years of age, it made me think that I needed to take better care of her health than ever before.

昨日の大雨で七里の広場には水溜まりが沢山できていて､､､

Yesterday’s heavy rainfall left lots of puddles in the park in Shichiri, and…

するとそこには普段はあまり見かけない鴨が3～4羽、どこからか来ていた。。

Then there were three or four ducks there, which I don’t usually see, coming from somewhere else.

興味津々のこなつは「傍に行きたい！」と訴えかけている。

Konatsu is very interested in the ducks and is appealing to me “I want to go near them!”

しばらく後を追ってみたが

Konatsu followed them for a while.

飛び立ってしまった。仕方なく大きい方の広場に行ってみるとアンちゃんに会えた。

They took off. Konatsu had no choice but to go to the larger square and saw Anne.

こっちにはもっと大きい水溜まりがあって、ここにも鴨がいたのでこなつは再び鴨を追う。

There was a larger pool of water over here, and Konatsu chased the ducks again because there were ducks here, too.

なかなか距離は縮まらず､､､

It wasn’t easy to get close…

ここまで近づくのが精一杯、これより先へはもう進めません。お友達にはなれなかったね｡｡｡

Konatsu can only get so close, and she can’t go any further. We couldn’t become friends, could we?

鎌倉山の中腹にある夫婦池公園はいつも人があまり居なくて静かな公園なのでこなつのお気に入りの場所の一つです。

Meotoike Pond Park, located halfway up Mt. Kamakura, is one of Konatsu’s favorite places because it is always a quiet park with few people.

公園と言うよりは山の中を歩いている感じ。

It feels more like a walk in the mountains than a park.

そして公園のいちばん奥まで行くとこんな注意書き。そろそろ注意の季節です。

Day 64 of the War: “The Story of Abandoned Sonya”
Sonya is 6 years old and from the Odessa region. Since the war began, her owners left her alone in their apartment. An acquaintance of the author gave Sonya some food, but she missed her family and began to bark loudly. Then a neighbor called the police and Sonya was kicked out of the apartment to the front door. Now she lives on the street. Sonya’s character is not easy, her family betrayed her, so she is untouchable, does not trust people, and is adapting to life on the street. In some of these cases, they are not able to evacuate together, but this would not have happened without the Russian invasion.

オモチャ置き場から持ち出して遊んでいます。

Konatsu still loves her stuffed animals even though she is 12 years old.

一個だけでは飽き足らず､､､

そのうちに「遊んで！」と私の所に持ってくる。しばらく相手してあげれば､､､

Eventually, “Play with me!” and bring it to me. And if I play with her for a while…

満足げな顔です。

She looks satisfied.

これも歳のせいなのか、すぐ寝ちゃうのです。

And maybe it’s her age, but she falls asleep quickly.

こなつママのお友達が3日間我が家に滞在して今日帰って行った。こなつは誰かが家を訪ねてきて家の中が賑やかなのが大好きなので、こなつには楽しい3日間だったようだ。

A friend of my wife’s stayed at our house for three days and left today. Konatsu loves it when someone comes to visit and the house is lively, so it was a fun three days for Konatsu.

Konatsu sometimes goes downstairs to check on the guests, and…

早く2階に上がって来ないかなぁ｡｡｡　とオスワリをして待ってみたり

Konatsu waits for her to come upstairs soon…. and then Konatsu tries to wait for her to come upstairs.

もう待ちくたびれちゃった､､､　という仕草をして見せたりしている

食事やティータイムになると、こなつは彼女の横に寄り添って「何かもらえないかなあ」って顔してる。

When it’s time for dinner or tea time, Konatsu cuddles up next to her and looks at her with a “I wonder if I can get something?” look on her face.

テーブルにケーキが並ぶと食い入るように覗き込んでいる。それでも飛びつかないのはエライね。

When cakes are lined up on the table, she peeks at them as if she were devouring them. It’s great that she doesn’t jump at the cakes.

そして結局こうなるのです(笑)

And this is what happens in the end. lol

今日はこなつの散歩に私とこなつママが従者となって歩いてきた。

Today, my wife and I walked with Konatsu as her retinue.

影が長くなっているように、戻ってきたのは日没直前。

It was just before sunset when we returned, as the shadows were getting longer.

そろそろ春から初夏に季節が移りそうな陽気で、庭に回ってみるとママが育てている花がたくさん咲いている。私は花の名前が殆ど分からないので写真だけ貼ってみますが､､､

The weather is about to change from spring to early summer, and as I turn around in the garden, I see that many of the flowers my wife is growing are in bloom. I hardly know the names of the flowers, so I’ll just put up pictures.

これだけ一斉に咲けばキレイだとは思うが、草花音痴の私はコメントのしようがない。

I think it would be beautiful if they bloomed all at once like this, but I can’t comment appropriately.

何が楽しいんだか、急に笑顔になったよ。

I don’t know what’s so fun, Konatsu suddenly smiled.

私たちはこんな穏やかな夕方を過ごしているが、ウクライナは戦争45日目。久しぶりにUAnimalsのサイトからの画像ですが、同じ地球上で起きてはいけない事だ。

We are having such a peaceful evening, but it has been 45 days since Ukraine was invaded by Russia. It’s been a while since I’ve seen this image from the UAnimals site, but it’s a scene that should not be happening on the planet we live on.

早めに職場を出て、家に着いたらママとこなつが散歩に行っているときだった。近所を歩けばそのうち会えるだろうと思って歩いて行くと､､､

I left work early and arrived home to find that my wife and Konatsu were out for a walk. I thought that if I walked around the neighborhood, I would see them sooner or later, so I walked over…

やっぱりね。向こうからこなつとシバちゃんが歩いてきた！犬が2頭と姦し娘3人

I knew it. Konatsu and Shiba walked in from the distance! Two dogs and three people.

このくらいまで近づいたら、こなつは私に気が付いて走り出そうとしている。

When I get this close, Konatsu finally notices me and is about to start running.

そして、私のところまで来たこなつは顔が笑ってる。

And Konatsu’s face is smiling when she comes to me.

シバちゃんは両目義眼だけど、こうしてちゃんと歩けるんです。凄いね。

Shiba has artificial eyes in both eyes, but he can walk like this. That’s amazing.

家で待っていたら0歩、こうして歩けば3,000歩。わずかな時間だけど運動になりました。

If I waited at home, I would have taken zero steps; if I walked this way, I would have taken 3,000 steps. It was only a short time, but it was good exercise.

Daylight is gradually getting longer.

今日は私が群馬に出張、ママは所用で数時間外出するのでこなつはどうしてもお留守番するしかない。こなつは何となくそれを悟ったみたいで僅かな抵抗、僅かな意思表示をしていた。

Today, I am going on a business trip to Gunma, and my wife is out of town for a few hours on business, so Konatsu has no choice but to stay at home. Konatsu seemed to somehow realize this and was making a slight resistance, a slight gesture of intent.

こ：「何だかイヤな気配を感じるんですけど､､､」

Ko: “I have a bad feeling about this…”

そういうときはドアの前でへそ天して「アタシを置いて行くつもり？」とアピールする。

At such times, Konatsu would stick her belly out in front of the door and say, “Are you going to leave me?” and appeal to us.

こ：「どう？　気が変わった？」

Ko: “How is it?　Have you changed your mind?”

こ：「やっぱダメなのね。。。」

Ko: “I knew it was a bad idea…”
